Adding a wallet logo to checkout is only the beginning of acceptance. Staff also need to recognize the transaction record, respond to a failed attempt and find the original purchase during a return. A short practice session can prevent a customer’s unfamiliar device from becoming an improvised troubleshooting exercise.
Train on the workflow rather than the brand
Use the actual approved terminal or checkout test environment. Show where staff see success, decline, cancellation and an unresolved result. Explain that a customer’s phone display and the merchant’s payment result are different pieces of evidence. Staff should consult the authorized transaction record before asking for another payment.
Rehearse a return from the original order
Find the sale using the order reference and follow the processor-supported refund process. Test what staff can see when the wallet credential differs from the number a customer expects. Do not promise a refund arrival date that the provider has not confirmed. Save the receipt wording and the escalation route for a missing return.
Provide a safe failure script
A useful script explains the observed status and the next approved step without asking for a device passcode or recording payment credentials. If status is unknown, pause and verify. Offering an alternative payment method may be appropriate after the first attempt has been resolved; collecting twice can create a separate service problem.
Check training after seasonal hiring
Include the exercise in onboarding and keep a supervisor available during the first shifts. For busy Florida locations, rehearse a line-building scenario and a loss of connectivity. Track the type of assistance needed so the next training update addresses a real gap rather than repeating a vendor’s sales demonstration.
